Background HOD Hockey Club Valkenswaard
The HOD Hockey Club Valkenswaard is a medium sized club of
about 1250 members. Founded sixty-one years ago, HOD is one of the most
active and professional clubs in the south of The Netherlands. The
Tournament for Top Teams Under Sixteen has been professionally and
efficiently organised by HOD since 1989. Field hockey is one of the
most highly-ranked sports in the Netherlands, second only to soccer.
The large number of clubs in the south of our country has made
hockey a lively, professional and enjoyable family sport. It is
played every weekend at all
levels.
The original aim of the committee was to organise a large and strong International tournament for boys and girls under sixteen, not only to promote a better understanding of the game, but to bring together different cultures from all over the world. 23 years later, the tournament is stronger than ever and we like to think that we continue to succeed in our aim!
